2017 Maple Educational Conference Announced

MAPLE EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE
August 25th and 26th will be here before you know it so be ready by planning to attend the 2017 Commercial Maple Syrup Producers of Michigan (CMSPM) “Tapping into the Future’ maple educational conference at the Treetops Resort in Gaylord, Michigan. The conference will begin on Friday evening August 25th with a panel discussion of industry experts from Leader, CDL and LaPierre. Topics will include marketing, new trends, the new grading system, getting the most out of the taps you have. Additional topics may be discussed as time allows. Immediately following our panel discussion will be our social hour where attendees will have access to hor’dourees and a cash bar as well as the opportunity to network with industry leaders and exhibitors. Exhibitors will be on site Friday evening as well displaying a large variety of specialized equipment for meeting the needs of both the larger and smaller maple producer.
The doors will open on Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. allowing you to grab a cup of coffee and pastry and/or visit with fellow guests and vendors prior to finding a seat for the program to start promptly at 9:00 a.m. Our keynote speaker this year is Ray Bonenberg. Ray is the president of the International Maple Syrup Institue and will be talking about exporting maple syrup, the new grading system, the health benefits of maple syrup. Other scheduled speakers include Valliet Chabot of CDL, Brad Gillian of Leader Evaporator Co., and Carl LaPierre of LaPierre as well as other industry professionals.
Throughout Saturday you will have plenty of time to visit with the many exhibitors displaying their equipment and learn of any new things they have to offer. New this year we will be featuring a silent auction featuring items donated from our vendors. A couple of the items that have been donated thus far are a weekend rental of a DYNA firewood processor, stainless steel sugarhouse mailbox, golf package from TreeTops Resort, a framed maple sugaring print, circa 1856, are just a few of the items up for bid.
Registration is just $50.00 for both Friday and Saturday for pre-registered guests. Regisrations must be postmarked by July 30, 2017 to receive the discounted rate. At the door registration or for those missing the deadline, registration will be $75.00 per person. New this year, we are also offering a Friday only rate of $25 and a Saturday only rate of $50 for anyone only able to attend one day.
The conference is being held at the Treetops Resort in Gaylord, Michigan and is being sponsored by the Commercial Maple Syrup Producers of Michigan. In addition to having a conference venue, Treetops Resort also offers premier golf, ski and resort experiences in Northern Michigan. The resort is located just a short 3 miles off I-75 at Exit 282. For individuals requiring lodging, reservations for overnight accomodations can be made by calling The Treetops Resort at 1-800-444-6711. Be sure to mention the code CMSPM to receive the special room discount of $79.00 per night (plus tax) for a standard room and $99.00 per night (plus tax) for a deluxe room. To obtain this special room rate, you must make your reservation by July 12th. Discounts are not available when registering online.
